It's Within Your Power

Have you ever sat around and thought "It would be a much better world if so and so did this, or so and so did that?" Well, have you ever thought that you just might be that "so and so", the one whom the world is waiting to change it? We just saw a prime example in our recent Presidential election of how one person can influence tremedous change and impact and change the world and culture for the better and in a way that has never been seen. So, instead of waiting for Joe Neighbor to get up and make changes in the world and the community in which you live, why don't you? If everybody waited on everybody else to make a move nothing would ever get done. So, step out today, you be that catalyst for change. You may have seen Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech more than once, but in light of this conversation I thought I'd include the link to it from YouTube just as a reminder to all of us to be catalysts for positive and lasting change in our world, culture, society, and communities. Peace.

Are You Helping Someone Today?

One of the most fulfilling aspects of life is to be able to help others. It gets the focus off of ourselves and puts it on others, and when we do this we find that our hours are well spent and our days are fulfilling. Helping others does away with boredom and discontentment. It is exhilarating and helps us find our purpose, that thing God put us on earth to do. Just get out and start helping others and you will find what that "thing" is if you're still searching. Help someone today and daily - it will enrich their life and yours, and you will be beautiful insideout!

Down In the Dumps?

Are you depressed or experiencing feelings of apathy or discouragement? I was thinking about all the many things I could say to be helpful and kept coming back to this one thought - GIVE. One of the best and most fulfilling ways to get through and over depression is by giving to others. When we give to others we make their lives better and it enriches and blesses us as well. I know there are several reasons a person could be depressed, but in many cases when you give of yourself, your time, your talents, your ear, etc., you'll discover that the feeling of depression just leaves. When we give to meet others needs, in whatever way we can bless them, we are giving of ourselves. That, in turn, lifts our spirits because we have reached outward instead of inward. When we make a lifestyle of reaching outward by giving to others and blessing them, we will have joy.

Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

I was watching a program on Feed the Children on television this morning. Right before I really tuned in I had determined what I wanted to write about today and had decided on “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff”. Watching this television program just confirmed what I thought I should write about. In a world of hungry and starving children, sickness, and a world where people in places like Sudan make less than $2.00 a day, why do we sweat the small stuff? After watching that program, no one should ever complain about missing a Big Mac, not knowing which pair of their 50 or 100 pairs of shoes to wear, or about their unfulfilling job – if you’ve been watching the news, you know that many people don’t have one. Sometimes we sweat the small stuff – worrying about things we can’t change, trying to change things we should leave alone, trying to change other people. Who can change another person? Leave them alone, just pray for them. Worrying about what people are doing and thinking, especially about what they are thinking about you, is one of the greatest “life” snatchers. Life would be much more simple and happy when we don’t concern ourselves with these things or things we can’t control. So, are you going to snatch your life back today by not sweating the small stuff?

Do You Want Beautiful Skin?

Beautiful skin starts with healthy skin, which means what we put into our bodies - healthy eating habits and drinking lots of water. This means eating some of those foods we hate and not eating some we love. Most of us are familiar with what is healthy – whole grains, vegetables, beans, peas, fruits, nuts, baked and broiled fish and chicken, turkey products, low fat dairy products, etc. But, what’s not so good for our bodies or skin is red meats, pork, butter, white rice, white bread, and sweets. I could go on, but I don’t want to depress you. Oh!, did I mention staying away from sodas. Seriously, the “bad” foods are okay once in a while, but try not to make a habit of eating them. Your cholesterol levels will love you and so will your skin. A book I’d like to recommend that will help you fix healthy and delicious meals in 30 minutes or less is Fit and Fast Meals In Minutes by Prevention. I also recommend Maureen Kennedy Salaman’s book, Foods that Heal, which has a wealth of information on foods you should eat if you have certain diseases. Click on the links on the sidebar for information on these books and/or to order them. Also, the following link will take you to additional information regarding zinc and foods and its connection to healthy, acne-free skin. Happy eating!Click on the eHow link below and copy and paste this article title into the search engine - How To Have Acne Free Skin By Eating Foods Rich In Zinc

Wigs, Lace Fronts, Full Lace Wigs

Wigs are not only very popular, but are also very convenient. I thought I’d switch gears a little and discuss outer beauty and its importance in how we see ourselves and feel about ourselves. I’ve gotten questions lately about how to apply lace wigs – lace fronts and full lace. You may also be wandering how to do it too since they are extremely popular now. Hair loss and hair problems cause many to feel embarrassed and anything but beautiful. So, if you’re thinking about buying a lace wig or know someone who is I’d like to refer you to a couple of articles that explain how to apply and remove lace front and full lace wigs. A wig can make a big difference in your appearance and can in some cases positively affect you professionally. Click on these links to read the articles and let me know if they were helpful to you or let me know if you need more information.

Live, Love, Laugh

LIVE
Don’t just sit in the house and do nothing, get out and enjoy your life, meet people. LIVE! Although social networking through Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and other networks are fun, there’s nothing like the good old fashioned “in person, face-to-face, how are you, nice to meet you”. Life goes by so quickly, so make every effort to enjoy it.

LOVE
That four letter word that many people find hard to say, but love hearing. Of all the gifts we can give a person this is the greatest, so shower someone with it today, and receive some for yourself. Do you know how to give love? Start practicing giving it today. Do you know how to receive love? Start practicing receiving it today. Not only will your life be richly blessed but you will bless others as well.

LAUGH
Sure, there are many things that happen in life that could just suck all the joy out of us if we let it. But, don’t let it. You have control over how you choose to feel, what you choose to think and meditate on, and how you choose to respond to anyone and to any situation. So, choose to take control of your life, and the situations and circumstances you can control – that doesn’t include people, you can never control another person, but you can control YOU. And, when life seems to smack you in the face, get up – dust yourself off – get your bearings straight – pray to God and thank Him that you didn’t go under – then, just laugh! A good and hearty, gut-wrenching LAUGH!

LIVE - LOVE - LAUGH - YOU'LL BE BEAUTIFUL FROM THE INSIDE OUT!

10 Things You Should Consider Doing Today

1. In all of your rushing, make sure your socks match and all of your clothes are zipped.
2. Think of one thing you’re thankful for and say thank you for it.
3. With all of your might withhold from letting the person have it who almost runs over you in their car and steals the parking space your were waiting on.
4. Smile at somebody, anybody – I’m sure they need it as much as you do.
5. Intentionally learn something new about something or someone. Maybe your co-worker has a pet and you never knew that. Maybe your neighbors like classical music, or Rock or Jazz or Hip Hop or R&B or or or…Whatever the genre, you get the picture, you might just find that you have something in common with them.
6. Don’t meditate on what is going wrong, only meditate on what is going right. Meditating on what is wrong only leads to worry which leads to fear, and you don’t want to be stressed out with worry and fear – if you worry enough, you’ll get sick and I want you to be healthy and beautiful . Remember, beauty is from the inside out.
7. If you’re a man, let the toilet seat down, if your’re a woman don’t fuss about the toilet seat.
8. Do at least one thing you love doing.
9. Enjoy life!
10. If you haven’t already, start a dream board to define your goals and help you stick with them and reach them. I really like the following article that tells you how to do it, you should read it. How to Discover Your Passion and Achieve Your Dreams. I’ve included the link so you can go directly to it. http://www.ehow.com/how_4481855_discover-passion-achieve-dreams.html

The Basics of a Beautiful Life

Well, I’m up early and wanted to get to you early before you step out the door into all the hustle and bustle that each day can bring. But, WAIT, STOP A MINUTE, SLOW DOWN! Think about how you’d like your day to go before you jump into it, and tell yourself “I’m going to have a great day today!” No matter what happens – boss gets on my nerves, kids are screaming, coffee spilled, no money, can’t find my socks – nevertheless, I’m going to have a great day today! Sometimes, you just have to grit your teeth and say, “Yes, I am determined to have a great day today!” When you speak positive affirmations each day, you’ll see how your day will change. How you see and speak about your day, yourself, your life, your future…is just how it will be. So, why not see them beautiful and then say it? What you see, you will say, what you say, you will have. Why not see, say, and have a beautiful day today – from the InsideOut?

Introduction to "Your Beauty Inside Out"

Since this is my first posting on this blog, I thought I’d start by taking a little adventure into the reason I created “Your Beauty Inside Out” and discuss its purpose. Hopefully, it will expand your view of beauty, increase your appetite for it, and cause you to notice and acknowledge the beauty of people and things around you. Take a good look around you. Do you notice the beauty in a baby’s giggle, the beauty in a warm sunset, the beauty in a joyful child, the beauty in an expectant mother or an excited bride. What about the beauty in a “Good morning, how are you?” Do you see beauty when someone says, “Ms., you dropped something?” Do you see beauty when your husband helps with the housework or your wife cooks your favorite meal? What about when a stranger smiles at you or the flowers kiss the dew? I see beauty all around. I see it in someone who does a nice deed unconditionally. I see it in a friend who calls just to say hello and asks, “How was your day?” I see it when the homeless and hungry are taken care of by those who love and care. I see it when an elderly woman is helped across the street and a hero saves a life. This is what inner beauty is, it is seen through these selfless acts and in so many countless ways. Do you see and possess it? These simple yet profound acts of kindness and courage make up what I call “inner beauty”, which is further accentuated by “outer beauty”. Take the time to develop your inner beauty through loving, laughing, giving, doing for others, and in so many other ways. Then, complete the package by taking time to develop your outer beauty through skin care, hair care, good nutrition, exercise, and other practices, which I will give you information on and discuss on this blog. I’m looking forward to providing you with information and resources that will help you enrich your life as you grow on your journey to becoming all you were created to be from the inside out!
